I attended this from 17-19 August this year. This was a great opportunity to meet up with colleagues from around New Zealand and listen to what the keynote speakers had to say about their topic of choice. This included the Minister of Education.

Parent - Teacher Conferences
These took place on the 1st and 2nd of August. This is a great opportunity to meet with parents (and in some cases the student themselves) to discuss progress and learning goals. This is a two-way conference where parents' input is sought and collective goals are made.
Curriculum Reports to the Board of Trustees
In May and July, I prepared and reported the annual English and Mathematics reports to the Board of Trustees. This involves collating information from the junior school and reporting on how the junior school has responded to the information, as well as giving a snapshot on current student progress.

COL Jumbo Day - Term One
This was done via zoom. We had a keynote speaker, Joanne Quinn who zoomed in from Canada. She spoke about New Pedagogies for Deep Learning. We were also given time to hook up with our colleagues in Year 7 & 8 in other schools followed by a school meeting with this year's facilitator, Jo Barr.
Structured Literacy
Took part in structured literacy webinars throughout the year. Watched the videos and completed the booklet along the way.

ALiM
This year, AliM was offered to selected students in three classes. In my room, there were 6 students who spent 10 weeks on multiplicative thinking and we focused mainly on the Learning Progressions signposts. Gillian May received the training for ALiM this year and we were guided by Tom and Michelle who were our mentors for this.
Teacher Only Days
These two days were 11 May and 16 August. On these days we looked at Local Curriculum and Deep Learning. We were able to plan two units; one on Matariki, and the other on the discovery of gold at Gabriel's Gully. These were very beneficial and the plans were quite comprehensive.
