Teacher Appraisals

July/August 2018. Carried out observations in teachers' classrooms, completed the necessary documentation and conducted interviews with all junior school teaching staff.

Area Schools Conference

Attended this annual event from 22 - 24 August 2018 in Christchurch. The theme this year was "Oranga Hauora - living in a state of well-being". Listened to some excellent key note speakers, including the Minister of Education, attended some relevant workshops, and took part in the mihi whakatau and waiata that was an integral part of the conference.

School Expo

Participated in the school expo which involved participation in a powhiri (played guitar for the waiata), prepared two information displays and met with parents to discuss these and any other school-related matters.

Reports to the Board

Two curriculum reports were made to the Board of Trustees in May (English) and July (Mathematics). These report on students progress against a set of school goals and against national expectations; and set future goals.

Board of Trustees Meetings

Ran a Board of Trustees meeting in my role as acting principal. This involved preparing an agenda, a principal's report which looked at personnel, Finance, property and strategic activities; and detailing the inwards and outwards correspondence.

Parent-teacher conferences

6-7 August 2018
Met with 16 families to discuss student progress. Positive discussions and able to collectively set goals.
